Vision
Every student a future-ready passionate learner of Science
Signature Programmes
Earth Week
Environment education is a key feature of Science education at CPS. Students
learn about recycling right, water and electricity conservation, biodiversity
and climate change through assembly talks, classroom lessons, SLS lessons
and recess time activities during Earth Week.

Mushroom & Vegetable Growing
The Science teachers believe that students learn best through doing. Thus,
teachers provide students ample opportunities to learn Science through
hands-on learning opportunities such as mushroom growing (Primary 3), Herbs
growing using soil-based techniques (Primary 3) and vegetable growing using
hydroponics (Primary 4). Through these programmes, students also learn
about the importance of healthy eating habits, reducing food waste and
food security in Singapore.

Science Busking
The Science department supports the school’s Learning for Life Programme
(Performing Arts for Values and Excellence) through the Science Buskers
programme. The Science Busking programme offers all Primary 3 students
the opportunity to demonstrate a Science concept in a creative and engaging
way. Students attend a Science busking workshop and use the skills learnt
to create their own Science Busking performance. Outstanding performances
are selected in Primary 4 and will represent the school at the annual Science
Buskers competition organized by the Singapore Science Centre.

Toy Making
The Science department supports the school’s Applied Learning Programme
(Thinking Curriculum) through the Toy Making programme. The Toy Making
programme offers all Primary 5 students the opportunity to design an innovative
toy using creative thinking strategies. Students work in teams to
learn toy-making techniques and use Science to explain how their toy works.
Outstanding toys will be selected to represent the school at the Sony Creative
Science Award competition organized by the Science Centre Singapore
and the Sony Group of Companies in Singapore, with the support of the Ministry
of Education.

Excellence 2000 Programme (E2K Science)
The E2K Science Programme offers opportunities for students to engage
in scientific investigations to discover and deepen their understanding
of advanced science concepts through an inquiry approach. This programme
is offered to selected Primary 4 and 5 students based on their interest
and aptitude in Science.
